If you live anywhere in the civilized world, you know that economic downturn has trickled down from the United States effectively wallet fucking everyone. One man is to blame more than any other. He may sound like he's fresh out of the special ed class from your high school, but Massachusetts voters keep electing him.
First, we give Barney Frank points for being the second openly gay member of the U.S. House of Representative. However, any positive modifiers he may have started with is completely overshadowed by what he has done in office.
In 2003, while the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee, Frank opposed a Bush administration proposal for transferring oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from Congress and the Department of Housing and Urban Development to a new agency that would be created within the Treasury Department. The proposal reflected the administration's belief that Congress "neither has the tools, nor the stature" for adequate oversight. Frank stated, "These two entities...are not facing any kind of financial crisis.... The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing."
Really Barney? Really? Bill Clinton tried to tighten regulation on them with you too. Not just Bush...
Why Does Barney Frank Defend These Economy Killing Groups? Typical reasons for scandals like this are money or sex. Barney got both!
Frank's former partner, Herb Moses, was an executive at Fannie from 1991 to 1998, where Moses helped develop many of Fannie’s housing and home improvement lending programs. Frank pushed for the expansion of these programs and the relationship with Moses ended about the same time Moses left the company. Not difficult to make the connection as to why Moses was with this simpleton.
Frank also accepted campaign contributions totaling $42,350 between 1989 and 2008 from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
If you watched the entire video, you'll see Barney Frank tried the oldest trick in politics: blame the other party. Since the country is so evenly split, nearly half Democrats and half Republicans, this tactic tends to rally some supporters regardless if the accusation is baseless or not.
The facts seem to indicate that he is a bought and paid for member of congress that is either too dumb or too lonely to care about being used for evil. We did, however, find out that Frank "outs" any member of congress that has had homosexual relations and votes against a LGBT rights issue. Is that one cool thing he does enough to save him here?
